Work crews were sprucing up Whistlestop’s Jackson Cafe in San Rafael on Wednesday in preparation for an evening soiree celebrating the nonprofit’s new collaboration in running the cafe with the help of Homeward Bound of Marin. San Rafael Mayor Al Boro and Marin Community Foundation president Tom Peters joined other advocates of Marin’s nonprofit community to sample from the cafe’s new menu and show their support for Whistlestop’s goal of ending loneliness for the county’s older or disabled folks, and Homeward Bound’s effort’s to assist Marin’s homeless. For a taste of what’s going on, the Jackson Cafe is at 930 Tamalpais Ave., open weekdays from 11:30am to 1:30pm.
